PITCH-IN Canada Week Continues the Tradition! 49 Years Strong!

PITCH-IN CANADA is celebrating its 49th year with a new website, www.pitch-in.ca, and a new partner, TIM HORTONS®

The 49th annual PITCH-IN Week takes place April 17-23rd to coincide with Earth Day and will once again welcome over 500,000 volunteers from coast to coast, ready to PITCH-IN to help keep our country clean. Volunteers at registered clean-up event sites will receive easily-identifiable yellow PITCH-IN Week waste removal bags and clear recycling bags for their registered local clean-up. Groups interested in participating in PITCH-IN Week, can register online at www.pitch-in.ca.

"In 2016, the impact of litter, and improperly disposed waste continues to be detrimental to Canadian wildlife, our ecosystems, oceans and waterways," says Misha Cook, PITCH-IN CANADA's Executive Director. "Simple day-to-day actions can have the greatest impact on future years and generations."

"Expanding nationally, and partnering with TIM HORTONS® is a natural step for PITCH-IN Week.  We are excited to have TIM HORTONS ® as our partner, supporting our volunteers and their quest for a litter-free Canada" says Cook.

"TIM HORTONS® is proud to play an active role in the communities where we live, work and play," says David Clanachan, President and COO, TIM HORTONS® Canada. "We are excited to sponsor PITCH-IN Week, helping our neighbours make a true difference for our environment, coast to coast."

The PITCH-IN Week campaign involves volunteers from schools, community groups, youth groups, business improvement associations and many community based organizations.  These volunteers will participate in projects ranging from community beautification programs, carbon footprint reduction, composting and recycling programs, to tree planting, eco-fair organization and implementing energy conservation strategies.

PITCH-IN Week is made possible by the support of our 2016 Title Sponsor, TIM HORTONS®, local municipal patrons, and private donations.
